two names, one place
Some months ago I posted a photo, see here, about the new bilingual street signs in Bandung. I am now visiting my parents in the small town of Simpelveld, in the south of the Netherlands, and to my surprise the municipiality signs are now replaced for bilingual ones: Dutch (Simpelveld) and the local dialect (Zumpelveld). Perhaps we can say that identity politics is a global issue.
